Here’s an update on the first stage we have arranged with thanks to the help of our Global Partner Neko Yachts.
The 6 day stage was completed in Rotterdam at the 2 Michelin star restaurant Park Heuvel by Chef Ronald, an experienced yacht chef who saw the stage advertised on our YachtChefs.com network and put his name forward for it!
Ronald arrived in Rotterdam on Sunday night and was met by Joost van Gorsel from Neko Yachts who took Ronald to his hotel nearby. Thanks to Neko Yachts half the cost of the hotel was covered by them so Ronald had around 5oo euros to pay for the week for his accom.
The stage started on Monday am at 0930 and Ronald spent the first 2 days helping the entremetier with veg prep. He also helped with service and making stocks. Its a small kitchen brigade at Park Heuvel working under chef Erik van Loo. The mornings are spent getting ready for a busy lunch service and then after lunch its heads down with mise en place for the evening!
During his time at Park Heuvel Ronald was able to taste many dishes and helped with desserts as well.
Thursday saw a well earned day off and a visit to the restaurant’s fish and meat suppliers with Neko. A chance for Ronald to meet suppliers he had been using on yachts and a chance to taste some fine produce too!
The stage is an opportunity to be in the heart of a busy 2 Michelin star restaurant and see and experience the pressures and buzz of a busy lunch and evening service for yourself! Up to 60 covers!
We are happy to say that Erik was so pleased with Ronald and his work that we are now able to offer you the chance to experience the same this winter!
